Buckingham Choral Society exists to develop choral singing in all its forms in and around Buckingham by providing a friendly environment in which singers can enjoy practicing and performing. Its roots can be traced back almost 150 years. We extend a warm welcome to Julian Mann, who was appointed as our new Musical Director from 1st January 2009. Choral rehearsalWe accommodate a wide range of both male and female musical talents, as singers are not auditioned, but we achieve a high standard of performance through the use of professional musicians for orchestral accompaniment. We retain the services of two professional musicians, Julian Mann as Musical Director to oversee the preparation and presentation of public concerts, and of Geoffrey Allan Taylor as repetiteur and concert accompanist. Buckingham Choral Society is well supported by the local population, with a recent performance of Handel’s Messiah attracting a sellout audience of some 350 in Buckingham Parish Church. The choir is also available to hire for weddings and other events in the North Bucks area including Milton Keynes and Aylesbury. Buckingham Choral Society is a registered charity, it is affiliated to Making Music and gratefully acknowledges the support it receives from Aylesbury Vale Arts Council.
