Lions Club of Burnham in Buckinghamshire Shopping Directory

Currently we have 23 members and many friends who come along to our events and help us help others. We are from all walks of life, all ages and with a wide variety of experience. We like to think we are ordinary people doing amazing things for others. Our purpose is to assist those organisations or individuals in our community who may need a little help. Our members enjoy a wide variety of social activities and share good fellowship. We hold regular business meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at the British Legion Hall, Gore Road, Burnham, Slough. VIisitors are always welcome but should contact our secretary before hand. The Clubs registered charity number is 1091374 and the members are proud that they pay their own administration expenses so that all funds raised go entirely to good causes. In order to raise funds or help others to do so, we organise events such as the Burnham Beeches Sponsored Bike Ride, The Christmas Fayre & Childrens Lantern Parade and we give our help to the Burnham Carnival and participate in many other such events. We care for the seniors in our community on such occasions as a Pantomime visit and the Spring Night Out and we introduced into the region the very successful and much appreciated free Message in a Bottle project that can help save lives in the event of the emergency services being called to a home. We care about our youth by sponsoring a gifted musician in the Lions Europa Young Musician contest and a Young Ambassador of the Year, We also organise a Peace Poster competition. We actively support the local Youth Centre. We care about those in our community whose disability requires a little helpOur club has received awards and recognition for our youth projects and for very successful fund raising to help prevent blindness.
